Does your hectic lifestyle and lack of Sleep affect your acne?

Posted by on

Stop reading now if you’re not a busy person. I thought you’d continue. We are all battling busy lifestyles. Stress and sleeplessness aren’t uncommon. Think about it. When do you usually have breakouts? After a big weekend? When you’re stressed? Do you study or do project work? Do you find breakouts occur as deadlines arise? These situations all identify the relationship between stress and sleeplessness – both of which can cause acne breakouts. Sleep is essential to energy levels, a sound mind, and the regeneration of your body. This includes the health of your skin. Whether it be environmental factors – such as an uncomfortable bed, a noisy place to sleep, a climate that’s too extreme, or a range of other factors – a reduction in quality sleep has an impact on your body. Should stress be the cause of your sleeplessness, this exacerbates the problem, as stress itself can cause your acne to flare.

So what can you do? Several things!

  • IF stress is your problem, think about what it is that’s causing the problem. Look at your schedule, your expectations upon yourself and the expectations of others. If you’re feeling pressure from someone else, talk to them. IF you feel unable to do so, then seek counsel and guidance.
  • Another means to manage stress is to control your breathing. I’m a big believer in mindfulness and meditation. Take some time, even if it’s just ten minutes… or when going for a walk. Focus on your breathing – only through your nose. Take long and increasingly deeper breaths. This can regulate your heart rate, and help you better control your mind frame and mood. It’s particularly helpful before you try to sleep.
  • A common modern day issue when seeking a good night’s rest is light. But not your bedroom light or what’s coming through your window. They’re an easy fix. It’s the light from mobiles, computers, TVs and tablets. This light, particularly as its blue in nature, stimulates the brain and suppresses the production of melatonin in the body, which impedes upon your ability to fall asleep. Try turning off your devices at least half an hour before you try to sleep, or download an app which reduces the brightness and blue light of their screens.
  • Keep regular on SkinB5 Extra Strength Tablets. Amongst the benefits and properties of SkinB5’s Caplets is its capacity to help reduce stress. Ensure you are regularly taking the Caplets to maintain your clear skin, and enjoy the added benefit of a natural solution to the physiological impact of stress.
  • Lastly, ensure your bed is comfy! How old is it? How does your head rest on your pillow? I recently traded up my pillows for some new memory foam ones which better support my head, and I feel the world of good for it.
