My Top Skincare Tips When Travelling

Posted by on

Travelling is fun - we get to visit new places, meet new people, enjoy different cuisines and the list goes on BUT there is one thing, and for those who travel often will be able to relate - we have to agree that it can also be quite damaging to our skin. With the jet lags, different time zones and climates, our skin does go haywire. With all the photos and selfies you will be taking during your trip, you will obviously want to make your skin look fresh and glowing! The question is - how do we care for our skin while travelling? Keep reading for some of my skincare travel tips that I swear by and my favourite SkinB5 products that I always pack to maintain my skincare regimen.
  1. Preparation is key
Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking enough water, 1 to 2 days before you fly. I usually prepare my skin by applying SkinB5 5-Minute Skin Purifying Mask the night before. It is great for nourishing the skin as it is packed with natural ingredients like french green clay, healing aloe vera, avocado oil and peppermint oil. I also make sure to use it during my trip as it is so easy to apply - it takes only 5 minutes and leaves your skin smooth and cool.
  1. Keep Your Cleanser
It is very important to take your current cleanser as an abrupt change in cleansers will create an imbalance in the skin’s acidity and may cause breakout. You should choose a safe cleanser as many contain harsh ingredients that are harmful to your skin. With the effects of travel, your skin can become more vulnerable if you are using the wrong cleanser. I highly recommend the SkinB5 Acne Control Cleansing Mousse which have natural ingredients and soothes troubled skin without drying it out.
  1. Keep Your Skin Moisturised.
Choosing a good protective moisturiser is very important to keep your skin hydrated. The right moisturiser will help protect the skin and keep it looking fresh and radiant during your trip. The best moisturisers to use are the ones which contain natural antioxidants which helps make the skin appear more youthful, even-toned and revitalise dull-looking skin. The SkinB5 Acne Control Moisturiser which I use to keep my skin hydrated, is the perfect on-the-go solution as it is antioxidant rich, contains all the natural ingredients, is very light, non-greasy and easily absorbed by the skin.
  1. Eat and Drink For Hydration
Make sure to drink plenty of water before your flight and make it a habit to carry a bottle of water during your trip and drinking regularly. Whenever I feel quite dehydrated, my go-to drink is coconut water which is low in calories, is a source of essential nutrients and it not only makes your skin more radiant but it keeps it healthy too. Also, make sure to be very careful when choosing what you are eating - avoid or reduce the intake of alcohol, caffeine, fatty food as these will definitely make your skin react and become dry and dull. Instead, have more fresh fruits and veggies. Remember, you are what you eat!
  1. Keep Your Skin protected
We all love to enjoy the sun when we are on vacation, but exposing your skin to it without protection will undoubtedly be damaging. It is very important to wear your sunscreen whenever you step out and we highly recommend using no lower than factor 30. For more protection, I always wear a hat and sunglasses to protect my eyes as well as the delicate skin around them. Another very important thing to consider, as crazy as it might sound, is applying sunscreen on the plane! If you think about it, you are closer to the sun and unfortunately the windows do not really filter out the UV rays. I believe that “travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer” but as long as you take care of your skin while you are on your trip as it need not be a disaster for your skin! With these tips, you will definitely have a hydrated and glowing skin and be selfie-ready! Do you have other tips for keeping skin looking fresh and glowing on your trip?
